Standing Ovations Mark the Premiere of “The Phantom of the Opera” Musical at Sava Center!

A Star-Studded Audience Witnessed This Broadway Spectacle

The world-renowned musical The Phantom of the Opera had its Belgrade premiere on April 22, 2025, in a sold-out Sava Center, greeted by thunderous ovations from the audience. A particularly emotional highlight was the live performance of iconic songs such as “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Angel of Music,” “Think of Me,” and “The Music of the Night.” One of the most spectacular moments of the evening was the legendary chandelier scene, which drew audible gasps from the audience as it “crashed.” The chandelier itself has gone down in history as one of the most iconic elements of this globally celebrated production.

Upcoming performances are scheduled from April 23 to 29, including two daytime (matinee) shows on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27. Tickets are available at Ticket Vision outlets and online at tickets.rs.

A host of celebrities attended the premiere, including actors Ivan Bosiljčić, Jelena Gavrilović, Tamara Radovanović, Ivan Zablaćanski, Žarko Stepanov, Anđelka Prpić, and Viktor Savić; musicians Sajsi MC, Konstrakta, Lena Kovačević, Jelena Tomašević, Tijana Bogićević, Nataša Mihajlović (Frajle), Mia Borisavljević, and Sara Jo; soprano Tamara Rađenović; and numerous public figures such as Vojin Đorđević, Branka Nevistić, Marija Tarlać, Ivana Mišković Karić, Vukota Brajović, Stefan Popović, Jelena Gajšek, Vesna Da Vinča, Suzana Perić, Ana Mitić, among many others.

A particularly notable moment was the meeting of the “Serbian Phantoms,” Dušan Svilar and Slobodan Stefanović, with Nadim Naaman, who plays the Phantom in the international version of the show. Svilar and Stefanović had previously portrayed the role in the domestic production at Pozorište na Terazijama.

The breathtaking musical experience was enhanced by a live orchestra, spectacular set design, over 230 stunning costumes, impressive special effects, and, above all, brilliant performances by Nadim Naaman, Georgia Wilkinson, Bridget Costello, Lara Martins, Dougie Carter, and many others. After the show, to the delight of the attendees, the entire cast joined the audience for an after-party held in the Sava Center lobby.

The Phantom of the Opera is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most awarded musical, with over 70 prestigious accolades including 4 Olivier and 7 Tony Awards. It has been seen by more than 160 million people worldwide across 46 countries, 195 cities, and in 18 languages. Based on Gaston Leroux’s novel, the musical is set in 19th-century Paris, where a musical genius known only as “The Phantom” haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House.

The Phantom of the Opera comes to Belgrade through the production of Broadway Entertainment Group and is presented to the public by Ticket Vision and Locals Experience, in cooperation with The Really Useful Group.
